Basketball Recap: Heritage Piles Up the Points Against Southwest Georgia Academy

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Heritage walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 72-33 victory over the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Heritage to victory were Sam Mead and MaKari Townsend. Mead went 7-for-10 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds, while Townsend went 5-for-6 on his way to 16 points and five boards. Townsend's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Oliver Howell also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. Southwest Georgia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

Coming up, Heritage will face off against Brentwood at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brentwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season. Southwest Georgia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
