Softball Recap: King's Way Christian Takes a Loss

King's Way Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Vancouver Trappers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trappers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Tuesday.

Soph Brewer put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lauren Lewis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Another player making a difference was Grace Wickum, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

King's Way Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Fort Vancouver, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King's Way Christian will challenge Tenino at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Beavers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.21 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Vancouver, they will face off against Evergreen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Plainsmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.22 runs per game on average), something the Trappers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
