Basketball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cardinals vs. Randolph Southern Rebels

The Seton Catholic Cardinals will face off against the Randolph Southern Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seton Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Randolph Southern likes a good challenge.

Seton Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Moynihan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Moynihan's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Eric Parker was another key player, going 5 for 8 to rack up 13 points.

Seton Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Randolph Southern, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 61-49 victory over Daleville on Thursday.

Randolph Southern's win came from a few key players Seton Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ronnie Dotson, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Donavon Shinaver, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 10-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Randolph Southern, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Seton Catholic took their win against Randolph Southern when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 76-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Randolph Southern's Noah Allen, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
