Recap: Red Oak Hawks vs. Centennial Spartans
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Red Oak Hawks had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-32 win over Centennial. Red Oak's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Chris Martinez jr was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Taz Williams jr was another key contributor, picking up 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Red Oak's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Red Oak will face off against Amarillo at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Amarillo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Red Oak is ranked 48th). Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
