Football Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. Central Rockets + Official Tickets

Southridge is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Central is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will take on the Rockets in a tournament on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over Southwest. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Eagles are ranked 487th).

James Perrone had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 221 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (151). Another player making a difference was Travis Gamble Jr, who rushed for 67 yards and one score.

Southridge's run defense was locked in: Southwest could only muster 2.7 yards per carry. The Spartans didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-6 victory over Stranahan. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Southridge, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Southridge was dealt a bruising 41-0 loss at the hands of Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
