Volleyball Recap: Cape Fear Academy Starts Season with Win Against North Brunswick

Cape Fear Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the North Brunswick Scorpions. The Hurricanes were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Scorpions, so the Hurricanes were just returning the favor.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-8, 25-11.

Cape Fear Academy was led to victory by Lila Hammer and Beatrice (Bertie) Brookes. Hammer had 15 assists and two aces, while Brookes hit 68.4% for 13 kills and 17 digs and 13 assists. Hammer has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 12 times she's played.

Cape Fear Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Epiphany on the 12th. As for North Brunswick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Heide Trask on the 12th.
