Basketball Recap: Wiregrass Comes Up Short

Wiregrass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the Calvary Christian Knights, falling 76-54. The Kings were down 71-36 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Wiregrass still got an impressive performance from Graysen Ellison, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Ellison a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Wilks, who put up five points.

Dylan Hosten continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Calvary Christian, going 9 of 13 on his way to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Tj Benson, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points.

Wiregrass' loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Wiregrass will square off against Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wiregrass is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Calvary Christian, they will challenge Brookstone at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookstone will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Calvary Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
