The LBJ Austin Jaguars will face off against the Valor South Austin Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, LBJ Austin turned things around against Austin Achieve on Friday. They blew past the Polar Bears 15-1. The Jaguars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

LBJ Austin got a great performance from Jacovy Smith-Poole as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Smith-Poole a new career-high.
At the plate, Joshua Covington was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for LBJ Austin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Efrain Cortez-Perez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
LBJ Austin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Valor South Austin made sure to put some runs up on the board against Grace Academy on Wednesday. The Falcons put the hurt on Grace Academy with a sharp 14-1 win. Considering the Falcons have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Campbell and Elias Moreno did most of the damage at the plate: Campbell got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Moreno scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That triple was Campbell's first of the season. Isaac Brunone was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Valor South Austin's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for LBJ Austin, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-12.
