The Waltrip Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Klein Forest Eagles at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Waltrip took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over Spring Woods. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Macy Kauffman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Gonzales, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
Waltrip always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Woods only posted an OBP of .444.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Klein Forest). They never let Aldine get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Friday. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Jaylee Garza-2029 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Diana Mendoza-2026 Committed was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Rios-2027, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Klein Forest's record now sits at 6-1. As for Waltrip, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Waltrip's way against Klein Forest in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as Waltrip made off with a 9-2 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
