Baseball Game Preview: South Salem Saxons vs. Sprague Olympians

For the second straight game, South Salem will face off against Sprague. The Saxons will be playing at home against the Olympians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Salem will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

South Salem is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Sprague, who was ranked 17th at the time (South Salem was ranked second). The Saxons were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Olympians on Wednesday. Considering the Saxons have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

South Salem got a great performance from Luke Erwin as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Erwin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Salem let Kevin Semm and Gavin Price run wild. Semm went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Price went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Noah Scharer was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

South Salem's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Sprague, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
