Baseball Game Preview: Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks vs. Sahuaro Cougars

For the second straight game, Ironwood Ridge will face off against Sahuaro. The Nighthawks are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ironwood Ridge has six straight victories, Sahuaro has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ironwood Ridge lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Sahuaro, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Nighthawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Nighthawks have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ironwood Ridge pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Sahuaro, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16-1.
