Softball Recap: West Springfield Beats Lake Braddock for Their Fifth Straight Win

West Springfield extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 19-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Lake Braddock Bruins as they made off with a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Andrea Yagui spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kate Middendorf was a standout: she fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Coughlin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

West Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

As for Lake Braddock, they moved to 17-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.17 runs allowed.

On Lake Braddock's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Radha Samuel, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Addison Forde was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As of now, neither West Springfield nor Lake Braddock have any future games scheduled.
