Baseball Recap: Indian River Comes Up Short

Indian River lost against Nansemond River back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Braves fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 10-9. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ace Chambers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Logan Delahunt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Jack Emerick was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Indian River's record now sits at 5-10. As for Nansemond River, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Indian River will welcome Great Bridge at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nansemond River, they are taking a road trip to square off against Deep Creek at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
