Basketball Recap: Caden Collins Key Part of a Team Effort in Griffins Win

There's no place like home for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down Young Men's Leadership Academy 76-62 on Tuesday.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Collins, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 25 points. Another player making a difference was Michael Glowe, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Young Men's Leadership Academy only racked up eight assists.

Despite the loss, Young Men's Leadership Academy had strong showings from Aiden Olivarez, who posted 22 points and six steals, and Adam Ortiz, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points and seven boards. That was a full 35.5% of Young Men's Leadership Academy's points, marking the 18th time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Raishaun Conaway was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks' record is now 12-10. As for Young Men's Leadership Academy, they moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Marion the next time they take the court. Great Hearts Northern Oaks will head out to face Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Young Men's Leadership Academy will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
