Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Needville walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Calhoun Sandcrabs a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. Give Needville's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Claire Ashburn and Maylee Smith scored both of Needville's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Needville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Calhoun dropped their record down to 10-12-2 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Needville didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-3 victory against Taylor on the 25th. Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
