Basketball Recap: Concord Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maple Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Concord). They claimed a resounding 71-38 win over the Maple Valley Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since November 25, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Concord to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Garrett, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 20 points. Garrett is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Concord was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maple Valley only posted seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Maple Valley lost on Friday, don't look at Teegen McDonald. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 12 en route to 10 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Hayze Sifton, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Concord now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Maple Valley, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord will challenge Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quincy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Maple Valley, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Maple Valley Lions take on the Stockbridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockbridge also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.5 points per game.
