Volleyball Recap: Fremont Comes Up Short

If Fremont was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Gunn last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firebirds fell 3-1 to the Wilcox Chargers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

The final score came out to 25-20, 17-25, 25-15, 25-22.

Fremont's offense was headlined by Mark Fedorov and Tom Back, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Neebir Natarjan and his 36 assists. Finally, Back was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Fremont's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Wilcox, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Fremont will challenge Washington at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wilcox, they will face off against Gunn at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
