Softball Recap: Eastlake Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Eastlake came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Point Loma Pointers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since March 5th.

Addison Suriano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eastlake's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaili Balajadia, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Bri Ayap also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Eastlake's win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Point Loma, they moved to 15-3-1 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastlake will host Steele Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Point Loma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cathedral Catholic at 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pointers 3, the Dons 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
