Baseball Recap: Crescent City Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Crescent City's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Halifax Academy Knights by a score of 17-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the match before.

Marcus Pates made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Crescent City got a big performance out of Andrew Roosa, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Roosa has become a key player for Crescent City: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jake Robinson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Crescent City will take on Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season. Halifax Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. John Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
