Baseball Recap: Ridge Community Takes a Loss

Ridge Community extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 5-8. They lost 17-4 to the Inspiration Academy Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bolts of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

Ridge Community saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gean Colina, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Inspiration Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On Inspiration Academy's side, Max Bradely was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bradely was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alex Smith was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Bannon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Ridge Community will take on Haines City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Inspiration Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
