Baseball Recap: Capuchino Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Capuchino, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Santa Cruz Cardinals 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Capuchino got a great performance from Declan Mendel as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Mendel a new career-high.

At the plate, Bryce Brooks was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Capuchino's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Cruz, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Capuchino will venture away from home to take on Archbishop Riordan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Archbishop Riordan 4, Capuchino 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Santa Cruz, they will head out to square off against Archbishop Mitty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Mitty's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Santa Cruz's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
