Soccer Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

The matchup between Athens and Pine Tree on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Athens Hornets fell 5-3 to the Pine Tree Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pine Tree, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Episcopal School of Dallas the next time they take the pitch. Athens will head out to face Episcopal School of Dallas at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Pine Tree will play them later in the day, at 9:00 a.m.
