Flag Football Game Preview: Scripps Ranch Falcons vs. Morse Tigers

The Scripps Ranch Falcons will take on the Morse Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Scripps Ranch 14.1, Morse 13.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Scripps Ranch will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Logan Memorial Education Campus on Thursday. The Falcons blew past the Eagles 33-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Falcons' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Scripps Ranch found their leader in sophomore Kennedy McCabe, who threw for 167 yards and five TDs while completing 88.2% of her passes.

Scripps Ranch's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Mia Lauer was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks herself. She has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Morse was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 26-20 to Point Loma. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Pointers are ranked 226th).

Morse has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6-1 record this season. As for Scripps Ranch, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Scripps Ranch didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Morse in their previous meeting back in August, but they still walked away with a 6-0 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
