The Lowry Buckaroos will head out to challenge the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Lowry will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Lowry's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Spring Creek hitters got past them. The Buckaroos skirted past the Spartans 14-12. The Buckaroos haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Lowry got a massive performance out of Adalyn Entwistle, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Entwistle has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Natalya Guizar, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch got the win against Reno on Saturday by a conclusive 14-2. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Jocelyn Pimentel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Pimentel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Mares was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Savanna Esqueda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Damonte Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lowry pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Damonte Ranch, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lowry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Damonte Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
