Baseball Recap: Gonzales Takes a Loss

Gonzales is still winless after their match against St. Andrew on Thursday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Andrew's Highlanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Apaches have suffered since March 8, 2024.

Gonzales saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Castillo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Castillo has posted since back in March of 2024. Antonio Gallardo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Gonzales' defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for St. Andrew's, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Gonzales wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 loss against Pflugerville Connally on the 6th. As for St. Andrew's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cooper at 1:00 p.m. on March 14th. This will be St. Andrew's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
