Baseball Recap: Greenfield-Central Comes Up Short

Greenfield-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Valparaiso Vikings.

Brady Martin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Greenfield-Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Kidd, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Another was Jacob Welch, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Greenfield-Central now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Valparaiso, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Greenfield-Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Yorktown on the 22nd. As for Valparaiso, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-7 win against Franklin Community on the 19th.
