Softball Recap: North Wilkes Vikings vs. Starmount Rams

North Wilkes had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-7 to make it four. They lost 14-0 to the Starmount Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

As for Starmount, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

For Starmount's part, Rachael Bates made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Bates has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Starmount got a massive performance out of Carley Money, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Money has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mackinzie Cox, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
