After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grosse Pointe North, Berkley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Athens Red Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Red Hawks on May 13th, they had to take a 10-0 loss.

Claire Marentis tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Meryl O'Donnell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Long, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Berkley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-25-1. As for Athens, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-12.

As of now, neither Berkley nor the Red Hawks have any future games scheduled.
