Capital came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Sandia Prep Sundevils with a sharp 18-3 victory.

Ava Martinez looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Cardenas, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. She is also on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Jadyn Padilla was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Capital lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandia Prep didn't launched any home runs.

Capital's record now sits at 2-0. As for Sandia Prep, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars challenge the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sandia Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Rio Grande at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
