Basketball Recap: Gooding Senators vs. Filer Wildcats

The Gooding Senators struggled with assists on Monday (the Filer Wildcats had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gooding had to suffer through a rough 69-36 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. Gooding was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-21.

Gooding lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Audrey Schilder, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Fallon Millican, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks.

Filer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hazel Fischer out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Tanli Lemoyne was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.

Gooding has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Filer, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Gooding is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Idaho (Buhl is ranked 99th, while the Senators are ranked 113th). As for Filer, they will take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
