The Southmont Mounties will head out on the road to take on the Frankfort Hot Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southmont is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Southmont didn't have too much trouble with South Putnam at home as they won 56-38.
Southmont can attribute much of their success to Vince Reimondo, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Hayden Hess, who scored nine points along with six assists and four steals. Hess hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Evan Watson, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Frankfort's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They fell to Carroll 73-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Southmont's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Frankfort, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Southmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Frankfort in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 58-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southmont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
