Softball Recap: Centerville Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After losing to Knightstown the last time they met, Centerville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 14-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matches by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Knightstown's batters probably weren't too happy with Madi Yount, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up zero walks). Yount has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mykilah Pamplin was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haven Walter, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Centerville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Knightstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Centerville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against Union County on the 19th. As for Knightstown, they have also already played their next game, a 9-6 victory against Union City on the 19th.
