Baseball Game Preview: Casteel Colts vs. Perry Pumas

For the second straight game, Casteel will face off against Perry. The Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Pumas at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Casteel is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Casteel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Perry, who was ranked fifth at the time (Casteel was ranked sixth). The Colts put the hurt on the Pumas with a sharp 11-5 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Baylor Denny was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Russell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryne Barker, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Perry's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Casteel has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game.
