Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Westerly Bulldogs
Woonsocket has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Monday. They will take on the Westerly Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Woonsocket focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Woonsocket beat North Kingstown 51-46. The win was just what Woonsocket needed coming off of a 75-54 defeat in their prior match.
Woonsocket's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juelz Stengel, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Stengel is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jamaury Barr was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westerly had to suffer through a rough 92-46 loss at the hands of Classical. Westerly has struggled against Classical recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Woonsocket now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Westerly, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Woonsocket was able to grind out a solid win over Westerly in their previous meeting back in February, winning 63-53. Will Woonsocket repeat their success, or does Westerly have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
