Baseball Game Preview: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Mission College Prep Royals

The Morro Bay Pirates will face off against the Mission College Prep Royals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mission College Prep will be up against a hot Morro Bay squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Morro Bay put the hurt on Everett Alvarez with a sharp 15-4 victory on Saturday.

Byron Erkenbra was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Evan Davis was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Erkenbra wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Morro Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mission College Prep made easy work of Nipomo on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

Brady Orfila made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Orfila was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thomas Glenn, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jake Hanchett, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Mission College Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Morro Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
