Basketball Recap: Bridgeland Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Daleigha Clark and Ibifaa Azogu

Bridgeland lost against Cypress Ranch back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bridgeland Bears took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cypress Ranch Mustangs.

Despite the loss, Bridgeland had strong showings from Ibifaa Azogu, who went 5 of 11 to rack up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, and Daleigha Clark, who posted nine points and five steals. Azogu is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games she's played.

Averie Steele was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards for Cypress Ranch. Steele has become a key player for Cypress Ranch: the team is 21-5 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ireland Wright, who earned eight points.

Bridgeland's defeat dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Cypress Ranch, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-8.

Bridgeland has already played their next matchup, a 53-40 loss against Cypress Woods on the 5th. As for Cypress Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-44 win against Langham Creek on the 5th.
