Volleyball Recap: Ursuline Academy's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Ursuline Academy lost against Notre Dame Academy back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bears fell 3-1 to the Cougars. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ursuline Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.

Carly Tarantola paced Ursuline Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Tarantola got some help from Gabby Bishop and her 14 assists. Rowan Luber controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Notre Dame Academy can attribute much of their success to Elle Orlando, who had 15 digs and two aces. Orlando has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. Clara Healey also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Ursuline Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Notre Dame Academy, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Ursuline Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Woburn Memorial on the 17th. As for Notre Dame Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Barnstable on the 16th.
