Softball Recap: Caverna Takes a Loss

Caverna fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hart County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 7-6. The Colonels' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Adreana Salvador spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Summer Sallee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayanah Nuckols, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Caverna now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Hart County, their record now sits at 18-13.

Looking ahead, Caverna will take on North Hardin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hart County, they will head out on the road to take on Adair County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
