The headliners of tonight's national championship game excelled in different ways in their prep years.
Video: Jahlil Okafor vs. Frank KaminskyDuke and Wisconsin stars did damage in different ways in high school. One's the National Player of the Year. One's the potential No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. One final game.
Tonight's national title game between Duke and Wisconsin will be the last time you'll get to see senior
Frank Kaminsky do battle against freshman
Jahlil Okafor. Kaminsky is graduating, and by all accounts Okafor will leave Duke to become one of the top two picks in this summer's NBA Draft.
With the projections for tonight's game pretty much dead even, a lot of analysts think it will come down to who has the best player. But that's not exactly an easy pick, either.
It's apples and oranges between Kaminsky and Okafor — each excels in different but equal ways. For what it's worth, Kaminsky (17 points, nine rebounds) outplayed Okafor (13 points, six rebounds) — statistically at least — when the teams met in early December.
It's important to note that Okafor was sidelined for a portion of the game due to foul trouble and, most importantly, Duke came away with the 80-70 win.
It's pretty much a toss-up between the two stars, so why not go back to high school to see if we can get any help there?
Okafor was the consensus No. 1 recruit coming out of
Whitney Young (Chicago), while Kaminsky was relatively unheralded out of
Benet Academy (Lisle, Ill.), but was clearly head and shoulders above his competition — literally, in most cases.
Despite being in the same state, the two never played against each other in high school. So we'll have to make due with what we have.
Check out the video for yourself and let us know. Who was better in high school, Okafor or Kaminsky?
