Basketball Recap: St. John XXIII Lions vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders
St. John XXIII was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 76-66 to the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders. The Lions lost against the Crusaders in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 79-34 score last time.
Concordia Lutheran found their leader in sophomore Ghaven Mittal, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Mittal has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.
St. John XXIII's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Concordia Lutheran, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-20.
A feisty cat fight will be fought when the St. John XXIII Lions duke it out with the St. Pius X Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Concordia Lutheran, they will host St. Thomas Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Thomas Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Concordia Lutheran surely won't give up without a fight.
