Baseball Recap: Beyer Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Beyer ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lathrop Spartans 12-11. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Nolan Foehringer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Buzz Richards, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Matthew Correia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Beyer's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Beyer will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lathrop: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
