Basketball Recap: Southridge Comes Up Short

Southridge suffered their biggest loss since January 3rd on Friday. They took a blow against the Chiawana Riverhawks, falling 79-48. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Suns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-39 back in January.

Chiawana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaia Foster, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Foster is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Malia Ruud, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.

Southridge's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Chiawana, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Southridge has already played their next contest (against Walla Walla), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Chiawana will square off against Richland at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Richland has won four straight at home, while Chiawana won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
