Preview: Powers Catholic Chargers vs. Bay City Western Warriors

The Powers Catholic Chargers are on the road again on Friday and plays the Bay City Western Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Powers Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 games -- so hopefully Bay City Western likes a good challenge.

Even though Grand Blanc scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Powers Catholic still came out on top. Powers Catholic snuck past Grand Blanc with a 62-58 win.

Javontae Ross was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Kelly, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bay City Western beat Gaylord 58-52 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bay City Western.

Powers Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Bay City Western, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Powers Catholic against Bay City Western in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 75-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Powers Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
