Recap: Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans vs. Shepherd Pirates
It was a good run, but the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 67-43 defeat to Shepherd might stick with them for a while. Coldspring-Oakhurst was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-18.
Shepherd's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Burton, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Burton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Brayden White was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Coldspring-Oakhurst's loss dropped their record down to 25-8. As for Shepherd, they pushed their record up to 20-13 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Coldspring-Oakhurst will take on Onalaska at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Onalaska knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Coldspring-Oakhurst likes a good challenge. As for Shepherd, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shepherd is facing Trinity at the right time seeing as Trinity is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
