Fort Defiance had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Turner Ashby Knights on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Fort Defiance got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-20, 30-28.

Maecy Ann Frizzelle paced Fort Defiance's offense, picking up 15 kills. Frizzelle got some help from Alexis Miller and her 25 assists. Frizzelle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Turner Ashby's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Fort Defiance will be taking part in a tournament against Broadway at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Turner Ashby, they will face off against Fluvanna County at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
