Softball Recap: Lincoln's Losing Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Lincoln had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Marysville Indians with a sharp 13-7 victory on Thursday. The Fighting Zebras' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ava Ornelas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Guadarrama, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Mosby-Rossi, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5.

Lincoln's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Marysville, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will challenge Colfax at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marysville, they will take on Oakmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
