Mesa Verde's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Sacramento Dragons. Considering the Mavericks have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jonny Alger, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Mesa Verde pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Sacramento, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Mesa Verde and Sacramento could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mesa Verde will take on Center at 4:00 p.m. on Monday down 199 places (367 vs. 168). Meanwhile, Sacramento (ranked 815th) will meet Vacaville (ranked 262nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
