Softball Game Preview: Rogers Pirates vs. Mars Hill Bible Panthers

The Rogers Pirates will head out to face off against the Mars Hill Bible Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Rogers fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lauderdale County last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-8. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Alona Davis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Lindsey, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Davis wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Rogers lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Mars Hill Bible was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They lost 15-0 to Hackleburg. The game marked the first time this season in which Mars Hill Bible was not able to get on the board.

Rogers' record now sits at 9-5. As for Mars Hill Bible, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-6.

Rogers came up short against Mars Hill Bible in their previous matchup on March 10th, falling 7-3. Can Rogers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
