The Beverly Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Beverly comes in on three and Peabody Veterans Memorial on eight.
On Wednesday, Beverly earned an 8-5 victory over Marblehead. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three runs.
Jonathan Reyes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Beverly got a great performance from Graham Gavin as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Gavin has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Micah McMannus was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Salerno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Peabody Veterans Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Lynn English 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tanners have posted against the Bulldogs since May 11, 2015.
Peabody Veterans Memorial's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beverly, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Beverly couldn't quite finish off Peabody Veterans Memorial in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
