Soccer Game Preview: Wakeland vs. Reedy

The Wakeland Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Reedy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wakeland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Wakeland gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged Turner out 2-1. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while the Lions are ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Reedy entered their matchup against Highland Park on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Reedy fell just short of Highland Park by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one goal.

Wakeland's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Reedy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3-1.

Wakeland took their win against Reedy when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakeland since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
